The design of a new 68 acre high school campus provided an opportunity to set elevated standards for design in service of spirituality, scholarship, and sustainability. Critically important to this project was an understanding of the client’s culture and community. Expressing the two in clear, compelling ways was the design challenge. The site is interwoven with contemplative settings that seek to foster a connection with nature. This design strategy drove the task of preserving considerable areas of wetland and forested landscape in thoughtful ways that support reflection and inspiration. The team’s end goal was to produce a community asset that is memorable, lasting, and reflective of client’s highest academic and stewardship goals.
