The new Academies of Loudoun campus not only reflects Loudoun County Public Schools’ vision to integrate advanced academic and technical programs, but also a campus that is mindful of its natural context. Only 25% of the campus’s 128 acres were disturbed in creating a 306,000sf school. The school is nestled within a network of wetlands and a dense mix of evergreen and deciduous forest. Space for building and necessary parking and circulation where carved out of the forest. Open space for passive recreation and a cafeteria terrace looking out upon forested wetlands highlight the introduced amenities for the students.
